Job summary

The University of Otago is seeking a Kaitohutohu Pāpare Māori to lead Māori media engagement and promote the university’s Māori voice. This role works across departments to share stories and advance the Māori Strategic Framework.

You will be a strong writer with deep knowledge of tikanga Māori and a passion for communications, public relations, or journalism. Part-time, in Dunedin, with pro-rata salary expectations and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Strong writing ability with experience in communications.
• In-depth knowledge of tikanga Māori and cultural context.
• Relevant qualification in communications, public relations or journalism.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Māori media to share University of Otago stories.
• Collaborate with media partners to promote the University’s key voices.
• Support Māori staff and students through clear, engaging communications.
