Job summary

Dempsey Wood is seeking experienced machine operators for fixed-term roles across the Waikato region. The position offers guaranteed full-time hours (minimum 40 per week) and an opportunity to work on diverse civil construction projects with a fast-growing, people-oriented employer.

Ideal candidates will have excavator experience (GPS preferred), multiple-year experience on heavy machinery, and a current Class 1 license with WTR endorsement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators, especially with GPS guidance.
• Several years operating other heavy machinery (Moxy, loaders, rollers, dozers, etc.).
• Civil and roading construction experience is preferred.
• Full Class 1 license with WTR endorsement; class 2-4 is a bonus.
• Sound site health and safety knowledge and practices.
• Good initiative and practical problem solving.
• Reliable, flexible, and able to work overtime.
• Ability to deliver quality work with the team.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavator (GPS) and other earthmoving equipment on Waikato projects.
• Follow site safety rules and maintain machines in good condition.
• Contribute to civil and roading construction activities across sites.
• Turn up on time, Monday–Saturday as required, with overtime as needed.

• Experience working on civil & roading construction projects

• Takes pride in your work, looks after your machine & the team working around you
• Reliable & flexible – we need you to turn up, on time, rain or shine!
