Job summary

Odyssey is recruiting a Liaison Practitioner for its New Lynn community hub to deliver assessment, admission, case management, and continuing care for individuals entering Odyssey services and their whānau.

The role supports clients on their recovery journey with evidence-based practice, group facilitation, and coordination of care within a dynamic, smoke-free team environment.

Qualifications

  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience in addiction/mental health settings.
  • Level 7 qualification or nearing completion with clinical placement hours.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (HPCA Act/DAPAANZ) or working towards.
  • Experience facilitating groups and working with whānau.
  • Full current NZ driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and effective assessment and admission to Odyssey services.
  • Provide case management and continuing care to service users and whānau.
  • Support clients on their recovery journey and promote high-quality clinical practice.
  • Work within Odyssey’s community-focused hub and collaborate with the team.

  • Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor

The Odyssey Assessment, Admissions and Continuing Care service is now looking to recruit a full-time permanent Liaison Practitioner to join our experienced team based at our community hub in New Lynn.

The Liaison Practitioner role in this service is responsible for delivering safe and effective assessment and admission, case management and continuing care services to individuals entering Odyssey services, and their whānau, through the provision of high quality, evidence-based clinical practice.

This role provides exciting opportunities to utilize and perfect your clinical toolbox by supporting service users on their journey to recovery. You will also support individuals following treatment as part of our ongoing continuing care engagement.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have:
  • Up to 1 year’s relevant experience, including the management and treatment of residents/tāngata whai ora and their family/whānau
  • A relevant (level 7) qualification e.g. Bachelors in AOD, Health Science, Nursing, Psychology, Te Take Take, or nearing completion of an applied level 7 qualification having undertaken clinical placement hours
  • Achieved or working towards registration with DAPAANZ, Social Work or other relevant body under the HPCA Act
  • Experience of facilitating groups, including community-based groups
  • Motivational interviewing, clinical assessment and risk management expertise
  • Knowledge of therapeutic models of care
  • Experience of working in the social services, addictions and/or mental health sectors
  • Understanding of and interest in Odyssey’s work
  • Full current NZ drivers license
  • Knowledge of the customs and culture of Pacific peoples
  • A full, clean NZ driver’s license
