Job summary

Public Defence Service Wellington is seeking a Legal Support Assistant – Entry level position for a fixed term of 3 months. You will support legal secretaries, help organise client files, and assist with reception and general office tasks in a busy team.

Duties The PDS is looking for a Legal Support Assistant to join our Wellington team. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, your duties will include:

  • assisting our legal secretaries and supporting the office.
  • setting up client files and collating legal documents.
  • processing client disclosure.
  • covering reception and a variety of general office administration tasks.

As a key team member at the PDS you will have access to an induction programme for PDS support staff. You will also be able to attend professional development opportunities across the Ministry.

Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to take instruction and follow through.
  • Expereince working to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative and a proactive approach.
  • Experience with one drive will be beneficial.

Utu ā-tau/Salary The appinting salary for this role will be $56,343 to $71,144 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience, we are willing to pay higher in the band to attract strong candidates into this role.
