Legal PA - Commercial (6-8 Month Fixed Term Cover)

We're recruiting on behalf of a respected Christchurch law firm with an approachable, collaborative team and a well‑earned reputation for looking after their people. They offer flexibility, a balanced workload, and the chance to be part of a firm where staff stay for the long term.

About the Role

This is a 6-8 month fixed term cover supporting a high‑performing commercial team made up of four to five key authors.

You will also step in with overflow support across the wider team where needed - meaning great exposure and variety in your day‑to‑day.

Work could span from commercial property transactions alongside additional private client, residential conveyancing matters from time to time. You'll be the organised, detail‑driven powerhouse who keeps things moving - from conveyancing processes through to client liaison and document preparation.

Once you've settled in, the firm is open to one work‑from‑home day per week.

Key Responsibilities (Depending on Experience)
  • Assisting with conveyancing processes such as preparing documentation and helping coordinate settlements
  • Providing occasional support across private client work including wills, EPOAs, and general document preparation
  • Managing client files and maintaining accurate records, including AML requirements
  • Preparing correspondence, typing dictation, and supporting authors with day‑to‑day tasks
  • Liaising with clients, banks, and external parties in a professional and friendly manner
  • Offering general administrative and overflow support to the wider team as needed
What You'll Bring
  • Some experience within a legal support role - whether conveyancing, commercial, or private client work
  • Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail and file management
  • Ability to stay on top of multiple tasks and remain calm when things get busy
  • A positive, team‑focused approach and confidence communicating with clients and colleagues
  • Familiarity with legal systems such as OneLaw or Affinity would be helpful, but is not essential
