AUT is seeking a permanent, full-time Lecturer in Accounting to teach and inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students, contribute to curriculum innovation, and advance research-informed teaching. We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a motivated Lecturer to make significant impact and develop their career in teaching, scholarship, and service.

We’re open to expertise across areas relevant to our Accounting Department and are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our teaching in a range of accounting courses, including Accounting and Information Systems, a first-year core course in the Bachelor of Business programme, as well as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems across the Bachelor of Business and Master of Professional Accounting programmes. Experience in supervising applied, industry-based, or work-integrated learning projects would be an added advantage.

We embrace practice-led and research-informed approaches to teaching that create transformative student experiences that uplift communities. Your contributions to programme and course development will support our commitment to continuous improvement and AUT’s identity as an applied university. You will teach across programmes as assigned by the Head of Department and be comfortable using digital resources to enhance learning. Key responsibilities include contributing to designing study programmes, advancing pedagogical approaches, developing innovative and industry-relevant teaching methods and materials, and assessing student learning.

You will be expected to conduct pedagogical research and must maintain strong industry relevance through active engagement with external organisations.

1. Qualification:

• A completed PhD in Accounting.
• Current professional or industry certifications would be desirable.

2. Teaching:

• An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous teaching assistant experience.
• More experienced candidates will have previous lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and preferably experience supervising applied, industry-based or work-integrated learning projects.

3. Scholarship and Professional Practice:

• An expressed specific desire to be a teaching-focused academic who will undertake activity as specified to maintain professional currency.

Salary Ranges | Ngā Utu: $86,000 - $103,000 per annum (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
