Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Resource teacher
English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts

Location: Summit Point School, Takapuna
Hours: School hours (TBC)
Rate: $30–$40 per hour

Summit Point School is seeking a kind, confident, and fun-loving learning support mentor to work one‑on‑one with a sparky, imaginative, and highly intelligent 11‑year‑old twice‑exceptional learner.

This is a meaningful role for someone who enjoys being active, connecting with young people, and making a genuine difference. Building a trusting relationship with the child, their whānau, and our school team is essential.

About the student
  • ADHD (Moderate–High)
  • Low-level ASD
  • Giftedness (Verbal 92nd percentile, Visual–Spatial 97th percentile)
  • Support needs in working memory, fluid reasoning, and managing generalised and social anxiety
  • He is transitioning into a new school after a year of online learning and will benefit from calm, consistent, and encouraging support during this period.
Key responsibilities
  • Supporting his transition into a new school environment
  • Providing in‑class support in collaboration with the school team

Assisting with:

  • Social skill coaching (e.g., understanding personal space, problem‑solving, navigating fairness)
  • Knowing when to step in and when to foster independence
  • Being an active, grounded, and positive presence throughout the school day
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Relates well to neurodiverse young people and builds trust with ease
  • Genuinely enjoys supporting a high‑potential learner with unique needs
  • Communicates warmly, respectfully, and clearly
  • Holds a full driver’s licence and can complete a police vet
  • Is seeking a long‑term, consistent position where they can make a meaningful impact
