Job summary

Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau is seeking dedicated Learning Assistants (Grade B-C) to support learners during term-time, part-time. Roles are permanent with fixed school-day schedules and start dates in November 2026 or January 2027.

You will work closely with teachers to ensure students are engaged, safe, and supported throughout the day. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, patient, empathetic, and capable of independent work while collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• Experience working with learners who have diverse communication or medical needs.
• Strong interpersonal communication with students, staff, and families.
• Demonstrates patience, kindness and empathy; proactive and independent when needed.

Responsibilities

• Learning Support: assist children to implement learning activities and support educational goals.
• Specialised Care: assist learners with specific communication, learning, and medical support needs.
• Collaborative Practice: work with teaching staff to maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Student Welfare: prioritise emotional and physical well-being of students.
