Job summary

Selwyn District Council is seeking a Learning and Programme Delivery Assistant at Lincoln Library. This fixed-term role focuses on frontline customer service, coordinating library programmes, and delivering learning opportunities across all ages.

Based in Lincoln, you will work with the ACLL team to promote services, support Heartland initiatives, and foster community partnerships while providing excellent service and adapting to learning needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in the GLAM (Galleries, Library, Archive, Museum) sector or learning environment.
  • High level of digital literacy and comfort with library resources.
  • Programme delivery or training experience.
  • Knowledge of education library resources and information retrieval.
  • Ability to relate to people of all ages and learning abilities.
  • First Aid Certificate and a full NZ driver’s licence (unrestricted).

Learning and Programme Delivery Assistant - Lincoln (Fixed Term)

The Learning and Programme Delivery Assistant plays a critical role in the Arts, Culture, and Lifelong Learning (ACLL) Team, ensuring that our library programmes and experiences meet the needs of our communities. You will be working with the ACLL whānau who are committed to serving Selwyn communities and making a difference across its Selwyn Libraries network. Our team have diverse backgrounds and bring themselves, their interests, and passion to their mahi.

This role delivers frontline customer service, with a focus on delivering learning opportunities.

You will be responsible for:

Library programme coordination

Resourcing and Promotion

Programme delivery for all ages, including preschool programming

Supporting the community with accessing services (e.g. Heartland Services)

Creating and maintaining community stakeholder relationships

With our team you'll have the opportunity to help deliver one of the most dynamic public library services in Aotearoa alongside a team of talented professionals who are passionate about what they do.

Our sites offer dynamic public library services, council services (e.g. rates, dog registration), and government services (e.g. Inland Revenue). No two days are the same, and full training will be provided.

This role is a full-time (40 hours a week) fixed term role till November 2027 due to Parental Leave.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9.45am - 6.15 pm
Thursday 11.45am - 8.15pm
Sunday 8.30am - 5.00pm

Based at Lincoln Library and Service Centre*

*While your home base will be as stated above, you will be required from time to time to work from other facilities across the district - Te Ara Ātea, Lincoln Library and Service Centre, Leeston Library & Service Centre, and Darfield Library & Service Centre.

We value the safety of our young people - all appointments will be subject to a satisfactory police vetting safety or Ministry of Justice check.

About you

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service experience, excellent communication skills, a positive can-do approach, a good understanding of Te Ao Māori and a demonstrated commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Minimum of three years in the GLAM (Galleries, Library, Archive, Museum) sector, customer service or learning environment

High level of digital literacy

Programme, training or other similar delivery

Knowledge of education library resources and information retrieval

Ability to relate well to people of all age groups and learning abilities, including understanding and adapting to individual learning styles

Strong customer service focus with high quality skills

First Aid Certificate

A full New Zealand driver's licence (unrestricted private motor vehicle) and be a confident driver

Tertiary qualification level 5 and above
