Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation in Auckland, NZ seeks a Lead, Operations Software to head a team of up to eight engineers onsite. You will architect, develop, and support software systems that configure, command, and monitor launch vehicles, spacecraft, and ground systems.

You will provide technical direction, manage priorities, and collaborate with stakeholders across Rocket Lab to ensure tools are fit for purpose and user-friendly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering and a relevant degree.
• Experience with Git for version control and Jira or similar issue tracking.
• Proficiency in a statically typed language such as Go, C#, or C++.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, implementation, and maintenance of software for testing and mission operations.
• Provide vision, leadership, and technical direction to a high-performing software team.
• Own team deliverables, balance business priorities, and manage risks.
• Engage with stakeholders to define requirements and manage backlogs.
• Develop software architecture designs and product backlog items.
• Facilitate agile practices and code reviews; develop developer and user documentation.
• Drive innovation and mentor team members on best practices.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and health & safety compliance.
