Job summary

The Department of Corrections is seeking a Manager of Psychological Services to lead a dedicated psychology team supporting OCRU and PERU. Based at Auckland Prison, the role is full-time with permanent or 12-month secondment options.

The team comprises four Psychologists (0.5 FTE each) who will work with operational and clinical staff across both units. You will provide clinical leadership, governance and high-quality psychological services, offering expert advice on risk, transition planning

Qualifications

• Registration with NZ Psychologists Board and current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Extensive experience in correctional, forensic or risk-focused settings.
• Strong skills in assessment, formulation, risk management and supervision.
• Experience leading and developing psychologists or other staff.
• Ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and professional leadership for OCRU and PERU.
• Lead psychology team of four psychologists (0.5 FTE each) based at Auckland Prison.
• Offer psychological advice on individuals and inform day-to-day management.
• Contribute to service development, governance and risk mitigation strategies.
