Job description

About this role | Mô ténei türanga mahi

Theta is seeking an experienced Lead Analytics Engineer to join the Data and Insights Practice, based in our Wellington office. This is a priority hire within a team that values delivery excellence and a sustainable pace of work.

This role is centred on analytics outcomes: partnering with customers to turn business questions into trusted reporting, governed metrics, and high-quality semantic models. You'll work directly with client stakeholders and take end-to-end ownership of delivery, working independently where appropriate, and collaborating with solution architects and delivery teams when scale, assurance, or project context requires it, with delivery centred on Microsoft Fabric and the Azure Data Platform.

The objective is consistent, reliable implementation that enables measurable business outcomes through well-modelled data, clear definitions of truth, and analytics products that teams actually adopt.

In practice, you will:
  • Lead client discovery to define KPIs/metrics ("definitions of truth") and reporting outcomes
  • Design the semantic model and analytics data model, then build the first iteration yourself in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
  • Deliver pragmatic, fit-for-purpose solutions that teams adopt, and hand over with clear documentation and coaching

Please note:A cover letter accompanying your application is requested

  • 4+ years end-to-end analytics delivery ownershipin a consulting (or equivalent client-delivery) environment, taking work from requirements through build, validation, release, and handover/adoption, and documentation
Great to have:
