Job summary

Patersons in Dunedin is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who enjoys leading others while staying close to the work. You’ll guide a team on land development and infrastructure projects, shaping both projects and people.

You’ll work with clients, deliver quality outcomes across roading, three waters, and subdivision schemes, and contribute to the growth of Patersons’ engineering capability across the Otago region.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in New Zealand civil engineering, ideally in land development or infrastructure.
• Strong design and project delivery capability across roading, three waters, and subdivision projects.
• Solid understanding of NZ standards, consenting, and council processes.
• Experience supporting or mentoring others, with the confidence to guide day-to-day work.
• Practical, solutions-focused approach and comfortable working directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small team on land development projects.
• Deliver quality land development work and guide day-to-day activities.
• Contribute to the growth of Patersons’ engineering capability across the Otago region.
