Job summary

Ministry of Education is seeking a Principal Advisor, Secondary Transitions on a fixed-term basis in Nelson. The role focuses on improving progression from schooling to further education, training and employment, with strong emphasis on equitable outcomes.

The advisor will work across schools, clusters, iwi and communities to develop new strategies and partnerships while seconded to another part of the Ministry.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Kāhui Ako/clusters of schools, secondary schools and tertiary providers to lift achievement and retention.
• Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and ability to work with employers, iwi and communities.
• Experience in leading change and using data to inform regional planning and reporting.
• Full driving licence required due to travel across the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide regional leadership and change management for Secondary Transition initiatives.
• Help establish local partnerships to prepare learners for further education and employment.
• Guide schools and providers in implementing Ka Hikitia and action plans for Pacific Education.
• Support regional priorities through data-informed decision making and planning.
