Job summary

Remarkable Laundry Limited in Queenstown is seeking a hands-on laundry assistant to support daily operations in a busy hospitality-focused environment.

You will receive, count, and record soiled linen, operate washers and folding equipment, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while ensuring quality during processing.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial laundry or fast-paced environment preferred.
• Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy loads.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Receive, count, and record soiled linen for stock control and processing.
• Load, sort, and batch soiled linen into designated bins for wash cycles.
• Identify and isolate damaged or heavily soiled items for supervisor review.
• Operate and monitor industrial washers, dryers, and folding equipment.
• Transfer clean linen to ironing and folding stations and feed through automated equipment.
• Inspect linen for quality during and after processing, including ironing and folding.
• Fold and pack clean linen to standard; prepare for dispatch.
• Load and unload laundry from delivery vehicles and ensure accurate orders.
• Handle customer-owned linen separately and ensure correct return.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laundry workspace.
• Follow health and safety protocols and report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
• Assist with basic housekeeping tasks within the laundry as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Load, sort, and batch soiled linen into designated bins for appropriate wash cycles
• Identify and isolate damaged or heavily soiled items for supervisor review
• Operate and monitor industrial washers, dryers, and folding equipment, ensuring correct programs are used for different linen types
• Transfer clean linen to ironing and folding stations; assist in feeding items through automated equipment
• Inspect linen for quality during and after processing, including ironing and folding stages
• Fold and pack clean linen to standard; prepare for dispatch using bags, trolleys, or cages
• Load and unload laundry from delivery vehicles; ensure accurate order handling
• Handle customer-owned linen separately and ensure correct return
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laundry workspace
• Follow all health and safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues promptly
• Assist with basic housekeeping tasks within the laundry as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a commercial laundry or similar fast-paced environment is a plus
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work efficiently under time pressure
• Good attention to detail and strong work ethic
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift heavy loads
• A valid driver license is preferred (but not required)
