Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Southern invites new graduate midwives to begin a 12‑month MFYP programme in Dunedin, Otago. This 0.8 FTE role with flexibility to 0.6 offers hands-on experience across antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, with rotation through tertiary hospitals, primary and rural units.

You will be supported by directors, midwife managers and educators, with a tailored orientation and strong clinical support to build confidence and deliver whānau‑centred care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Midwifery is required or in progress for 2025/2026 graduates.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with whānau.
• Able to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Rotate across antenatal, labour and birth, and postnatal care.
• Experience caseload midwifery opportunities.
• Participate in a comprehensive orientation and mentoring.
