Laboratory Technician – Wellington, Kapiti Coast

We are seeking Laboratory Technicians with 2+ years’ experience to support our team working on the Ōtaki to North of Levin project. This is a full-time, permanent role based in the Kapiti region — you will need to be able to travel to Manakau, outside of Ōtaki.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician looking to broaden their geotechnical and construction materials testing skills, gain exposure to a wide scope of services, and be part of a leading specialist geotechnical testing company.

The role is hands-on and physically demanding, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. The role may involve early starts, late finishes, and overtime when required.

Your responsibilities will include performing a variety of laboratory-based geotechnical and construction materials tests on soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete. You may also occasionally be required to attend sites to carry out concrete testing, such as slump, spread, and moulding cylinders.

  • At least 2 years+ experience conducting geotechnical and construction materials laboratory tests on soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete samples
  • Performing all work in accordance with our IANZ accreditation and project management system
  • Entering, processing, and reporting data accurately
  • Collaboratingwith employees and clients to ensure high-quality project outcomes
  • Ability to motivate with enthusiasm and empathy, bringing positive energy, uplifting others, and inspiring the team to work together toward shared goals.
  • Ideally you will have a degree or diploma in Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physical Science, or similar
  • A full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Physically capable to handle and test samples up to 25 kg
  • Excellent digital and data skills
  • Great problem-solving and trouble‑shooting skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and quality
  • Hardworking, self‑motivated and a positive attitude
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision and collaborate with team members
  • Ability to manage project objectives
  • Excellent communication skills and the flexibility to adapt quickly to change
  • Safety conscious

Join us on the 02NL project and enjoy a comprehensive package that includes a competitive salary, project bonus, wellbeing benefits, and a range of additional perks. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a key project while building your skills and broadening your experience.
