Job summary

Te Roopu Taurima is seeking a Kaiāwhina (Support Worker) in Pukekohe to support tāngata with diverse needs in residential homes, guided by tikanga Māori. The role emphasizes dignity, independence, and participation in community life.

You will work with your Kaitaataki and team to provide hands-on support, focusing on choice and empowerment while upholding cultural values in everyday activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in disability support, mental health, or life skills support with a calm, caring approach.
• Willingness to learn kaupapa Māori values and practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible and reliable with rostered shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Uphold tikanga Māori values in whare life.
• Provide personal cares, meals, hygiene, routines, and medication support (training provided).
• Support tāngata to build independence and life skills while engaging whānau and community.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming whare environment.
• Collaborate with Kaitaataki and team; participate in handovers and learning.
