Te Wānanga o Aotearoa in Gisborne is seeking a Kaiako / Tutor to teach tauira across a range of education and vocational subjects. This fixed term, full-time role involves lesson planning, presenting material, responding to learning needs, and evaluating progress.

The position requires a Minimum Level 5 Diploma, Adult Teaching and Literacy/Numeracy qualifications, and experience in foundation education. NZ Police experience is preferred; newly qualified kaiako will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 5 Diploma in related programme field required.
  • Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 or equivalent required.
  • Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 or equivalent required.
  • Newly qualified kaiako/teachers with relevant qualifications and no or limited teaching experience will also be considered for employment.
  • Experience in foundation education preferred.
  • Previous employment within the NZ Police is preferred.

Responsabilités

  • Recruit tauira to achieve class numbers.
  • Plan delivery of assessments using curriculum templates (marau).
  • Assess tauira through various delivery models.
  • Plan and supervise Noho, Wānanga, field trips.
  • Maintain records of tauira, assessment results, attendance, progress, feedback, and graduation rates, ensuring confidentiality.

Formation

Minimum Level 5 Diploma in related programme field
Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 or equivalent
Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 or equivalent
Newly qualified kaiako/teachers with relevant qualifications and no or limited teaching experience will also be considered for employment
Experience in foundation education
Previous employment within the NZ Police (Preferred)

The role of aKaiako / Tutor is to teach tauira (students) in a wide variety of educationaland vocational subjects. Teaching involves but is not limited to developinglesson plans, presenting material to tauira, responding to tauira learningneeds, and evaluating tauira progress.

Role: Fixed term, full time position
Duration:
Until 17th December 2027
Location: Gisborne
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Days: Monday – Sunday

Your key focusareas will include:

  • Recruit for tauira in order to achieve tauira classnumbers;
  • Plan delivery of assessments using the templateprovided in the curriculum (marau);
  • Assess tauira through various delivery models;
  • Plan and supervise Noho, Wānanga, Field Trips;
  • Maintain records of tauira; assessment results,attendance registers, progress, feedback, and end of course graduationrates, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
  • Previous employment within the NZ Police(Preferred)
  • Experience in foundation education
