Rocket Lab in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking a Junior Ground Systems Engineer - Mechanical to join Team Y. You will contribute to design, build, test and commissioning of structures and mechanisms for launch sites, test sites and mobile equipment.

You’ll collaborate with technicians, assist in project planning and help ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification, while developing foundational aerospace engineering skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics, Aerospace) or related field.
  • 3D CAD & PLM software experience (SolidWorks, EPDM).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven environment.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Junior Engineer with our Ground Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of structures and mechanisms for our launch sites, test sites and mobile equipment. You will also be involved in project planning and working closely with technicians to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering , Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge in engineering design, test and/or operations in aerospace and/or industrial sectors
  • 3D CAD & PLM software (e.g. SolidWorks & EPDM)
  • Ability to work in fast paced, autonomously driven environment
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience with structural steel, launch pad systems, engine test stand, or other similar industry
  • Experience with structural design and analysis
  • Experience with industrial machinery and equipment
  • NX and Teamcenter
  • Experience with ASME, ASTM, and/or NASA ground system standards would be an asset

Salary dependent upon experience: NZD$ 70,000 - NZD$ 71,525
