Job summary

ElectroNet Consulting in Christchurch is looking for a Junior Designer to join the CAD & Visualisation team. You will transform concepts into detailed 2D and 3D drawings for high-voltage projects while learning from experienced engineers and designers.

We welcome recent graduates or those early in their careers and offer mentoring, professional development, and a supportive team culture. Full NZ work rights are required for applicants.

Qualifications

  • Recently completed or working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Genuine interest in CAD design and power systems.
  • Eager to learn new technologies, software and design techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional electrical draughting services, transforming conceptual designs into detailed 2D and 3D drawings for high-voltage projects.
  • Support the team with BIM models, panel layouts and SCADA/control system drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop innovative design solutions.
  • Contribute to drawing automation and visualization efforts.

At ElectroNet Consulting, we are looking for a Junior Designer to join our CAD & Visualisation team in Christchurch. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career to develop specialist design and draughting skills while working alongside experienced engineers and designers on projects that help power communities across New Zealand.

About the Role

As a Junior Designer, you will learn to provide professional electrical draughting services, transforming conceptual designs into detailed 2D and 3D drawings for high-voltage power system projects. You will be supported by a knowledgeable team who are committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of design professionals.

You will gain exposure to:
  • 2D and 3D CAD design for high-voltage electrical installations
  • Substation and power system design drawings
  • Relay and instrument diagrams
  • AC and DC schematics
  • Panel layouts and BIM models
  • SCADA and control system drawings
  • Civil, structural, and physical layout drawings
  • Drawing automation and innovative visualisation tools
About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has recently completed, or is working towards, a relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Has a genuine interest in CAD design and power systems
  • Is eager to learn new technologies, software, and design techniques
  • Enjoys problem solving and thinking creatively
  • Communicates well and works effectively in a team environment
  • Takes initiative while knowing when to seek support
