Job summary

Service Foods Christchurch is seeking a motivated Inwards Goods Assistant to join our fast-growing team at Woolston. You’ll support the operations team by receiving, inspecting and recording incoming goods, with accuracy and safety in a temperature-controlled environment.

The role requires a forklift licence, good literacy/numeracy, and the ability to learn our SAGE system. You’ll work Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30, with some heavy lifting and a strong emphasis on teamwork.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence is mandatory.
• Physical fitness for heavy lifting and cold environments.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Reliable attendance and flexible, with own transport.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to learn SAGE.
• Previous warehouse/picking experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of basic NZ food ingredients is a plus.
• NZ work experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and record all incoming goods (chiller, freezer, ambient and produce).
• Unload and check product quality, ensuring standards.
• Barcoding, pricing, and documentation of inwards goods.
• Handle discrepancies, damages, and stock variances.
• Ensure proper labelling and categorization of all items.
• Maintain a clean and organized inwards goods area.
• Coordinate with the warehouse team for storage and stock rotation (FIFO).
• Perform regular stock checks and assist with inventory management.
• Process paperwork and data entry accurately and on time.
• Assist with outgoing orders and returns.
• Adhere to health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
• Perform heavy lifting and work in temperature-controlled environments.
