Job summary

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) Immigration Compliance and Investigation branch offers two permanent roles in Auckland. You will join a dedicated team focused on preventing and responding to immigration-related offending and non-compliance in a fast-paced regulatory environment.

Successful candidates will use regulatory expertise and investigative skills to support witnesses and conduct complex prosecutions, contributing to a fair and secure immigration system for

• Sound understanding and application of NZ legislation in investigation and prosecution processes.
• Ability to support vulnerable complainants and witnesses through the investigation and prosecution process.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to manage risk and maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues.
• Analytical thinker with experience planning and undertaking complex criminal investigations prosecutions in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate high-level and general Immigration Act offending and non-compliance.

• Contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic regulatory environment in MBIE's Immigration Compliance & Investigation team.

About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

The Immigration Compliance and Investigations branch have two permanent role opportunities in the investigation team based in Auckland. It is a unique opportunity to join Immigration Compliance & Investigation and work in a fast paced, dynamic environment at a time of growth. We offer the successful candidates the chance to be part of a new era in Immigration with a focus on regulatory expertise in an intelligence informed environment. The team sits within Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and are tasked with preventing and responding to immigration related offending and non-compliance.
