Job summary

Aliaxis APAC in Christchurch seeks an organized Inventory Controller to maintain stock accuracy and support efficient warehouse operations. You will manage inventory control, cycle counting, variances, and reporting while collaborating with procurement, planning and warehouse teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven inventory management experience in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer literacy with Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as BPCS and Nexus is highly regarded.
  • Current Counterbalance Forklift and Reach Truck licences are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all inventory transactions are accurate and timely, maintaining stock integrity.
  • Lead cycle counts, stock audits and reconciliations as required.
  • Maintain accurate racking locations, labels and stock records in the system.
  • Oversee goods receipts, put-away and inter‑company stock transfers with timely BPCS updates.
  • Investigate variances and transaction anomalies to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, procurement and planning teams to prevent stockouts and reduce overstock.
  • Prepare inventory accuracy reports and variance summaries for management.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations and drive continuous improvement in inventory control.
  • Provide operational support during peak periods and assist the warehouse team as needed.

About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail‑oriented Inventory Controller to join our Christchurch team and play a pivotal role in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting the efficient flow of stock across a busy warehouse operation.


Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for inventory control, stock movements, cycle counting, stock reconciliations, variance investigation, inventory reporting and maintaining accurate inventory records within BPCS. This is a hands‑on office and warehouse‑based role requiring strong attention to detail, analytical problem‑solving skills and close collaboration with warehouse, procurement, planning and operational teams.


This role is ideal for an experienced inventory professional who takes ownership of stock integrity, drives accountability and continuous improvement, and is looking to further develop their leadership capability within a global organisation.


What will you do?


  • Ensure all inventory transactions are completed accurately and within required timeframes, maintaining high levels of stock integrity.


  • Lead scheduled cycle counts, stock audits and inventory reconciliations in accordance with company requirements.


  • Maintain racking locations within BPCS, ensuring labels, barcodes, stock records and physical storage locations remain accurate and up to date.


  • Oversee goods receipts and put‑away, and monitor DRP transactions and inter‑company stock transfers, ensuring timely processing and accurate BPCS updates.


  • Monitor stock accuracy and investigate inventory variances and transaction anomalies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.


  • Work closely with warehouse, procurement and planning teams to resolve stock issues, maintain optimal stock levels, prevent stockouts and minimise overstock.


  • Ensure inventory movements and transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled and traceable, with system and procedural improvements implemented where required.


  • Prepare and present inventory accuracy reports, variance summaries and improvement recommendations.


  • Lead root‑cause investigations into recurring inventory issues and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory control, workflow, accuracy and warehouse efficiency.


  • Provide operational support to the warehouse team during peak periods or staff shortages and perform other duties as required to support warehouse operations and business needs.



What We're Looking For:


  • Proven inventory management experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, plumbing products distribution or a similar environment.


  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook and Teams.


  • Experience using ERP systems such as BPCS & Nexus inventory management systems will be highly regarded


  • Current Counterbalance Forklift and Reach Truck licences - essential.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across internal teams and stakeholders.


  • Highly organised, analytical and detail‑oriented, with a strong commitment to inventory accuracy and data integrity.


  • Knowledge of supply chain procedures, stock replenishment, forecasting and demand planning.


  • Proven ability to investigate discrepancies and transaction anomalies, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.


  • Able to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced operational environment.


  • A collaborative team player with the communication and leadership capability to build positive working relationships and influence across multiple departments.


  • Demonstrates accountability, a proactive approach to problem‑solving and a strong customer focus.


  • Adaptable to change, committed to continuous learning and willing to understand existing processes while identifying practical opportunities to improve and innovate.
