Job summary

Caterpillar CTCT division seeks a Software Engineering Intern to contribute to the Grade Control and Automation product with an embedded C++ platform and Android/Angular interfaces.

You will join a collaborative software team, participate in development cycles, testing, issue reporting, and process improvements while aligning with customer workflows. Availability aligned with November 2026–February 2027.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, maths, mechatronics, or equivalent.
  • OOP experience with Java or C++ and familiarity with Python.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Agile mindset and ability to work well in a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments and learn quickly.
  • Available 16 November 2026 to 12 February 2027.
  • Holiday shutdown 18 December 2026 to 5 January 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in the development cycles of software.
  • Complete component and systems testing.
  • Reporting of issues.
  • Highlight areas of improvement.
  • Understand customer needs and workflows and provide feedback to the team.
  • Other duties directed by Management as required.

As a Software Engineering Intern at CTCT, you will work as an integral member of one of our software development teams, developing our Grade Control and Automation product, which comprises an embedded C++ platform with Android and Angular user interfaces. Your team is a forward-thinking group, working collaboratively to transform the world through the application of cutting-edge technology. You will be involved in the development cycles of software, through component and systems development, testing, reporting of issues, and highlighting areas of improvement. You will get many opportunities to apply your curiosity, organisation, and problem-solving skills to this role.

Qualifications
  • Working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, mathematics, mechatronics, or equivalent.
  • OOP experience (Java/C++) and interpreted languages (preferably Python)
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Agile, positive, and methodical
  • Enjoy working with a highly collaborative team
  • High attention to detail with strong communication & problem-solving skills
  • Seek opportunities to utilise technical knowledge and abilities
  • Take ownership of individual assignments
  • Enjoy working with new and emerging technology.
  • Must be available from 16th of November 2026 until 12th of February 2027
  • Holiday shutdown between 18th of December 2026 until 5th of January 2027
