Job summary

LDE, an AtkinsRéalis Company, is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Hawke's Bay team from Napier or Gisborne. You will advance your career with support from senior engineers, engaging from proposal through to detailed engineering recommendations, with budgets managed as part of the role.

The position offers broad exposure to transport, water, and renewables projects and a collaborative, field-inclusive work style in a locally focused environment.

Qualifications

• NZ-recognised Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) required.
• 4+ years NZ consultancy experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; familiarity with HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Involve from proposal and engagement through to engineering recommendations.
• Produce civil design of a specialist nature and manage budgets.
• Collaborate across disciplines with senior engineers and clients.
• Deliver road, drainage and civil works designs from concept to signoff.
• Monitor site conditions and provide documentation.

Your role

Based from either Napier or Gisborne, we are seeking a Civil Engineer looking for an opportunity to advance and grow their career while helping to extend our client base with support from our team of senior engineers. Our approach to developing a well-rounded engineer will see you involved from proposal and engagement through to engineering recommendations, designs of a specialist nature and budget management.

You will have confidence in your ability but also the capacity to learn from others and apply this in your day-to-day work. With a strong pipeline of active work, you'll have every opportunity to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.

Our Hawkes Bay office in Ahuriri is home to a multidisciplinary team of civil, geotechnical, and structural engineers, engineering geologists, and environmental scientists — and with the beach just steps away, the work-life balance practically takes care of itself.

Work will involve civil design works, including but not limited to

• Small to large subdivisions from concept to signoff stages
• Roading and pavement design
• Stormwater and wastewater reticulation design
• Stormwater hydraulic neutrality design and flood assessments
• Reporting
• Site monitoring
• Simple structural design
• Retaining wall and MSE wall design
• Foundation design
• Coastal revetment designs

About You

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
• 4+ years of New Zealand experience, including consultancy exposure
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; familiarity with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS is an advantage
• Resilience and having the ability to adapt and push through setbacks
• Ability to be able to clearly communicate and translate technical information for clients, contractors, and non-engineers
• A dependable team player
