NZSIS Intelligence Capability Officer role to coordinate and develop operational and analytical capability within the NZSIS, working closely with operators and analysts to advance Mission effectiveness and front-line outcomes.
Join a diverse team split between Auckland and Wellington, with travel between locations and potential overseas opportunities; your work will enhance our analytical and operational capabilities and support NZSIS missions.
Join our diverse and talented people and work at the heart of national security, providing essential intelligence to the NZ government to protect New Zealand and its people. At the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te Pā Whakamarumaru, we are dedicated to our mission of keeping Aotearoa New Zealand and our people safe and secure. We collect, analyse and assess intelligence to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism.
Do you enjoy collaborative working and finding pathways to achieve successful outcomes? Do you lead by example and have a hands-on approach to team success? Do you want to be part of and contribute directly to NZSIS's core intelligence Missions?
The NZSIS Intelligence Capability Unit is seeking an Intelligence Capability Officer (ICO) to join a team in NZSIS that works directly in our intelligence and operations functions. Our ICOs are responsible for the coordination and development of operational and analytical capability within the NZSIS and this work has significant impact on our ability to achieve operational, analytical and Mission objectives. Many of the responsibilities of this position, and the way it functions, are similar to that of a project manager which will see you working on multiple varied work streams centred on bettering our front-line operations. Ultimately, your work will make NZSIS better at achieving our Missions by enhancing our analytical and operational capabilities. You will work side-by-side operators and analysts to advance our Missions. Success in this role would see you delivering operational and analytical capability that gives staff better intelligence from existing and new accesses, or even from targets that were previously too hard.
As an ICO we need you to act as problem solvers for the problems that others can't solve. You will be motivated to step up when there's a challenge and be able to ask the why and the how.
Have a high level of flexibility, adaptability and resilience. Although not essential, if your background includes experience in an intelligence context, operational/project management or planning, exposure to intelligence collection or analysis, relationship management and problem solving, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
The team is split between Auckland and Wellington so there is the option for the preferred candidate to be based in either of these two locations. Don't worry; location won't act as a barrier to success as this team prides themselves on communication, collaboration and celebrating even the small wins. You will likely be required to travel between our Auckland and Wellington locations several times a year, overseas travel opportunities are also available.
The opportunity to work with diverse, talented, and committed people in an inclusive community.
