Job summary

Te Kura o Ōpāwaho – Opawa School in Canterbury seeks a skilled NZ registered teacher who is innovative, reflective, and deeply committed to te reo Māori and culturally inclusive practice. You will build positive relationships with tamariki, whānau, and staff while delivering a broad curriculum.

Position is full-time, fixed-term from early 2027 to early 2028, aligning with the kura philosophy and collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Must hold NZ registered teacher status.
• Demonstrates cultural competence and te reo Māori commitment.
• Strong relationship and classroom management skills.
• Innovative, reflective, and collaborative team player.
• Sound literacy and numeracy knowledge and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with tamariki, whānau, and staff.
• Deliver learning across English, Health and PE, Maths, Science, Social sciences, The Arts, and Te reo Māori.
• Contribute to kura philosophy and support learning across Years 1–8.
