Job summary

The IHC Group in Whangarei is hiring an IHC Community Liaison to create meaningful opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to connect, participate, and thrive in local communities. You will coordinate inclusive initiatives, recruit and support volunteers, and build partnerships that foster skills, confidence and belonging.

You will supervise volunteers or engage in community involvement, train volunteers, and develop trusted relationships with diverse groups.

As an IHC Community Liaison, you’ll create meaningful opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to connect, participate, and thrive in their local communities. You’ll coordinate and deliver inclusive initiatives, volunteer programmes, build community connections, and support activities that help people develop skills, confidence, friendships, and a stronger sense of belonging. Through relationship building you will help strengthen local networks and support positive outcomes for the people we support. You will also:

• Coordinate volunteer-led friendship, learning, and community programmes.
• Recruit, train and support volunteers.
• Connect people with inclusive opportunities that support skills, confidence, and belonging.
• Develop partnerships with community groups, businesses, services, and local networks.

The ideal person for this role will be experienced in managing people and passionate about inclusion, community connection, and helping people participate meaningfully in everyday life. You’ll have a strong understanding of volunteering, community engagement, and inclusive practice and the ability to train and support volunteers. You will be well connected in your community and proactive in building partnerships. You’ll also have:

• The ability to build trusted relationships with diverse people and groups.
• A clear and adaptable communication style.
• Excellent organisational and self-management skills with a solution focused outlook.
• An understanding of systems and processes and the ability to create your own.
• Experience in supervising volunteers, or significant community involvement as a volunteer.
• Knowledge or experience working alongside people with intellectual disabilities.

The salary for this role is $70,000 - $77,000
