Job summary

Whangārei Hospital is seeking an ICU Registrar to commence in 2027. It’s a Level 2 ICU supporting children and adults, accredited for CICM core training and rural exposure. You’ll join regional emergency response teams and participate in interhospital transports to Auckland.

The Northland anaesthesia service offers excellent clinical exposure, with a pathway to anaesthesia time for CICM trainees. Applicants should have general registration or eligibility with the Medical Council; overseas

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience as a Registrar in Emergency Medicine, General Medicine or Surgery.
• Paediatric experience as an SHO or Registrar is advantageous, as well as Intensive Care or Anaesthetic Registrar time.
• An attractive relocation package is available for overseas applicants.
• Before applying you must have either general registration or be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the hospital emergency response teams.
• Provide interhospital transports within Northland and to Auckland by helicopter, fixed wing and road ambulances.
• Access to multiple teaching sessions and regular quality assurance meetings.
• For CICM trainees there is a pathway to do one-year anaesthesia time.
