Job summary

Auckland Airport is seeking an ICT Design Lead to shape the digital infrastructure that underpins its growth. You will lead design across digital, infrastructure and property projects, ensuring new ICT assets meet standards and are commissioned successfully.

You will partner with internal teams and external partners, champion campus-wide standards, and drive continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and industry best practices in a complex live environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or related field with RCDD credentials.
• 15+ years' ICT design, construction and consultancy experience in large environments.
• Proven leadership across multiple contractors, vendors and technical disciplines.
• Extensive experience delivering large-scale structured cabling and fibre infrastructure.
• Strong experience across network, wireless, CCTV, access control and building systems.
• Experience auditing ICT designs and commissioning in complex live environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead ICT design across digital, infrastructure and property projects from requirements to sign-off.
• Develop and champion campus-wide ICT design standards and architectural frameworks.
• Act as the key Digital design liaison with Engineering, Infrastructure, Property, designers and partners.
• Review designs and construction to align with ICT standards and business needs.
• Identify ICT design risks and opportunities across the portfolio.
• Provide technical input into scoping, business cases and design decisions.
• Undertake design reviews, site inspections and commissioning to ensure asset quality.
• Drive continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies and lessons learned.

As ICT Design Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping the digital infrastructure that underpins Auckland Airport's continued growth and transformation. You'll lead the design and governance of precinct-wide ICT infrastructure, ensuring new and changing digital infrastructure is designed, constructed and commissioned to deliver high-quality, scalable and enduring assets.

Working at the intersection of Digital, Infrastructure and Property, you'll partner with internal teams, designers, engineers, main contractors and subcontractors to ensure technology requirements are embedded into projects from the outset and delivered in line with Auckland Airport's ICT standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ICT design across digital, infrastructure and property projects, from requirements and concept through to construction, commissioning and sign-off.
• Develop, maintain and champion campus-wide ICT design standards, architectural frameworks and best practices.
• Act as the key Digital design liaison across Engineering, Infrastructure, Property, designers, contractors and technology partners.
• Review designs and construction activity to ensure alignment with ICT standards, business requirements and wider airport objectives.
• Identify and manage ICT design risks, dependencies and opportunities across the Infrastructure Technology Portfolio.
• Provide technical input into project scoping, business cases, RFx responses and design decisions.
• Undertake design reviews, site inspections, commissioning and quality assurance to ensure completed infrastructure meets requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by incorporating emerging technologies, industry trends and lessons learned into ICT design practices.

What you'll bring to the role:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information technology or a related field, with Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) credentials.
• 15+ years' ICT design, construction and consultancy experience, ideally within large, complex environments.
• Demonstrated leadership across multiple contractors, vendors and technical disciplines.
• Extensive experience delivering large-scale structured cabling and fibre optic infrastructure, including design, technical specifications, construction and commissioning.
• Strong technical experience across network and wireless infrastructure, CCTV, access control, building management systems, data centres, building automation and communications systems.
• Proven experience undertaking physical ICT audits and ensuring construction activity aligns with established design standards.
• Experience commissioning technology infrastructure within complex live operational environments, while minimising disruption to ongoing operations.
• Strong stakeholder and technical leadership capability, with the confidence to influence design outcomes across Digital, Infrastructure, Property and external delivery partners.
• Strong product management, product ownership or digital product strategy experience.
