Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Hydraulic Modeller in New Zealand to join our Water team. You will help develop water supply, wastewater and stormwater models to support infrastructure planning and investment decisions, while coordinating with project teams across the country.

With a background in 3 Waters modelling and proficiency in InfoWorks ICM and ArcGIS, you will contribute to technical reports and client submissions, and support business development within a strong, collaborative network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ water modelling experience.
• Proficiency with InfoWorks ICM and ArcGIS.
• Experience with data analytics, coding and data visualisation is desirable.
• Experience in wastewater is essential; stormwater experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing water supply, wastewater and stormwater network models for planning and design.
• Plan and manage workload to deliver high‑quality project outcomes on time and within budget.
• Support project managers with planning, coordination and client engagement.
• Contribute to technical reports, plans, policies and client submissions.
• Help grow network planning and modelling capability through business development and client relationships.
• Share knowledge within the wider network planning community through collaboration and training.

About The Role

Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand has an impressive portfolio of successful projects that benefit communities nationwide. Our water focus covers the management of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater as a collective resource. Finding solutions to our water challenges is crucial, and our diverse local network of over 360 water specialists collaborates and innovates to ensure the best outcomes are achieved.

With substantial project wins and an extensive backlog of work, we have an opportunity for an experienced hydraulic modeller with a background in water supply/ stormwater/wastewater to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to help further build our national modelling team, which unites our 3 Waters modelling capabilities. You will have the opportunity to work on significant projects both nationally and internationally, and with a diverse range of project teams.

Stantec globally is known for our best practice in drainage and water modelling, and our New Zealand team unites this global best practice with local knowledge, to deliver high quality modelling and network planning projects for our clients.

Key Aspects Of The Role Will Include

• Assist in developing water supply, wastewater and stormwater network models to support infrastructure planning, design and investment decisions.


• Plan and manage your workload to deliver high-quality project outcomes on time and within budget.


• Support project managers with project planning, coordination and client engagement to achieve successful project delivery.


• Contribute to the development, review and presentation of technical reports, plans, policies and client submissions.


• Help grow Stantec's network planning and modelling capability by supporting business development and maintaining strong client relationships.


• Share knowledge and contribute to the wider network planning and modelling community through collaboration, training and continuous improvement.

You will have relevant Bachelor's degree, 3 years working experience. You will be fluent with InfoWorks ICM, as well as GIS packages such as ArcGIS. Experience in other software is desirable but not essential. Experience with data analytics, coding and data visualisation also desirable. Experience in wastewater is essential; experience in stormwater is desirable. You will need to be progressive, have enthusiasm for innovative thinking and be willing to be actively involved in the wider Asia Pacific Stantec network planning community.
