Job summary

GHD is seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to join our team, primarily based in Wellington or Auckland, New Zealand. This role contributes to delivery of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives while supporting our people and projects across NZ.

Responsibilities include implementing HSE programs, incident investigations, risk controls, audits, training, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 4 years' experience in an HSE Coordinator, Health & Safety Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience supporting HSE systems, risk management processes, and incident management.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety and environment (HSE) programs and initiatives
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities
  • Coordinate health and safety systems, records, and documentation
  • Support risk assessment processes and the implementation of risk controls
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance activities
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and leaders on HSE matters
  • Coordinate training, awareness programs, and HSE communications
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics and trends
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the business
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support continuous improvement and compliance with legislative and company requirements

The role
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety and environment (HSE) programs and initiatives
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities
  • Coordinate health and safety systems, records, and documentation
  • Support risk assessment processes and the implementation of risk controls
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance activities
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and leaders on HSE matters

About you
  • 3 to 4 years' experience in an HSE Coordinator, Health & Safety Coordinator, or similar role
  • Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline desirable
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Experience supporting HSE systems, risk management processes, and incident management
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
  • Experience analysing and interpreting HSE performance data, identifying trends, and providing meaningful insights to support business decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment
