Job summary

Equans ANZ is seeking an HSE Advisor to support our New Zealand division, champion a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements. You will provide specialist HSE advice, develop safety plans, investigate incidents, and drive improvements across projects and teams.

The role requires 3–5 years’ Health & Safety advisory experience, knowledge of ACC and Return to Work processes, and strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and deliver effective training and

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Health & Safety advisory role.
  • Experience with ACC, Return to Work and Rehabilitation processes.
  • Training in or experience with ICAM methodology for incident investigations.
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation, trends, and compliance frameworks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset to identify risks and drive improvements in safety initiatives.
  • Ability to promote and foster a proactive safety culture within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist HSE advice and support to teams across NZ and other divisions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements, escalating non-compliance where necessary.
  • Develop and implement safe work method statements and project specific safety plans.
  • Support employees, supervisors, and line managers with technical guidance to improve health and safety outcomes.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of our HSE management systems.
  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations, ensuring effective corrective actions are taken.
  • Drive a culture of accurate and timely reporting of incidents and events.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, safety inductions, and toolbox sessions.
  • Manage return-to-work processes, collaborating with medical professionals and stakeholders.
  • Conduct site safety audits and inspections, ensuring adherence to regional and site-specific safety plans.
  • Provide HSE data and reports to senior management, supporting informed decision‑making.

What You Will Be Doing

What You Need
  • 3–5 years of experience in a Health & Safety advisory role.

Your Qualifications
