Job summary

City Care Property is seeking a Defence House Building Assistant to join our team at Defence House, the NZDF headquarters in Wellington. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and supports a professional environment for staff and visitors.

You will maintain offices and meeting rooms to a high standard, assist with room set-ups and events, and help the day-to-day operation and readiness of the building. A NZDF Top Secret security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, facilities support, hospitality, or property services.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NZDF security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining offices, amenities, meeting rooms and shared spaces to a high standard.
• Carrying out cleaning and presentation tasks across the facility.
• Assisting with meeting room set-ups, furniture moves and event support.
• Supporting the day‑to‑day operation and readiness of the building.
• Performing routine checks of facilities, equipment and supplies.
• Responding to service requests and assisting with building‑related tasks.
• Working safely while following all NZDF site requirements and protocols.
• Helping create a welcoming, professional environment for staff and visitors.
