Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking a Heavy Diesel Mechanic in Silverdale to service trucks, trailers, civil machinery and mobile plant. You’ll diagnose faults, perform servicing and repairs, helping keep fleets safe and operational.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of hands-on heavy diesel experience, relevant NZ qualifications and a solid focus on health, safety and teamwork across diverse crews.

Qualifications

• MITO relevant trade qualification or NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 4) or Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 5).
• Around 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in heavy diesel, heavy transport or civil construction equipment.
• Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain diesel vehicles, trucks and heavy machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
• Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and other key components.
• Complete breakdown repairs and field service call-outs while keeping safety front of mind.
• Work with operators, supervisors and site teams to keep fleet and plant available, compliant and ready for work.

We’re looking for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Silverdale. You’ll play a key part in keeping our trucks, plant and equipment safe, reliable and ready to go, supporting the crews and projects that keep our work moving.

This is a hands‑on role with plenty of variety. You’ll work across heavy diesel trucks, trailers, civil machinery and mobile plant, carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs that make a real difference day to day.
