Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Dunedin Hospital seeks a Healthcare Security Officer on a permanent, full-time basis. The role offers variety in a hospital environment, shifts across a roster including weekends, and training leading to nationally recognised security qualifications.

You will patrol, write reports, perform welfare checks, defuse tense situations, and help keep patients, staff and visitors safe.

Healthcare Security Officer Dunedin Hospital Permanent, Full-time $29.25 - $32.92 per hour Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the role

Hospital environment offering great variety in your workday! A role with loads of variety - this is not your average security role. Reporting to the Security Service Manager, no two shifts in this role will be the same - you'll need to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and show compassion and empathy in times of distress. Previous security experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate, and training leading to nationally recognised security qualifications will be provided. Our primary role is 'Healthcare' - looking after our patients. Secondary to that is 'Security' - keeping everyone safe.

As part of our busy security team, you will be involved in a number of different duties such as:

• Routine patrols
• Report writing
• Welfare checks
• Diffusing tense situations before they escape
• Ensuring the overall security of our people and buildings

You will be a peacemaker, a confident communicator and display kindness and helpfulness while remaining firm and alert. You will have experience working with people from all walks of life, be non-judgemental and have a good level of physical fitness. You will receive excellent training, nationally recognised security qualifications, and the opportunity to work with a friendly, supportive and committed team.
