Job summary

Watercare Services Limited is seeking a Health Safety & Wellbeing Lead - Programmes to support the safe delivery of Watercare's capital programme in Auckland. You will partner with programme leaders, project teams, contractors and consultants to embed contemporary HSW practices across complex infrastructure projects.

You will lead risk management, coaching leaders, and leveraging data and assurance insights to drive improvement and practical safety outcomes while fostering a high-performance

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading Health, Safety and Wellbeing within large-scale infrastructure, utilities, construction or other complex, high-risk environments.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, contractor management and critical risk management principles.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and build trusted relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
• A contemporary safety leadership mindset that focuses on learning, engagement and improving how work is performed.
• Strong facilitation, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complexity and drive practical outcomes.
• Experience using data, assurance findings and operational insights to improve performance and support informed decision making.
• A relevant qualification in Health and Safety or a related discipline, with professional registration considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Embed Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices across the full project lifecycle for Watercare's capital programme.
• Coach and influence leaders, project teams and delivery partners to strengthen safety leadership and risk management.
• Lead collaborative risk review and learning activities that drive improvement and build capability.
• Use performance data and assurance insights to identify trends and support evidence-based decisions.
• Facilitate collaboration across internal teams, contractors and suppliers to achieve practical safety outcomes.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen critical controls.
