Job summary

The Department of Conservation (NZ) seeks a Health Safety and Security Systems Assurance Manager to lead enterprise systems, assurance, governance and business continuity. You will oversee risk management maturity and provide data-driven insights to leaders, strengthening resilience across the organisation.

You will lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, manage protective security requirements, and enable safe, compliant operations across Aotearoa with some travel.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading health and safety, assurance, risk or governance functions within a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety management systems, assurance frameworks and critical risk management.
• Experience leading organisational reporting, performance insights and data-driven decision making.
• Knowledge of Protective Security Requirements (PSR), organisational resilience and business continuity planning.
• Proven people leadership experience, including capability development and team performance.
• Strong strategic thinking, systems leadership and continuous improvement capability.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with experience influencing senior leaders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complexity into practical insights.
• Full NZ drivers licence and willingness to travel for work.
