Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay is seeking Health Care Assistants to support nursing and multidisciplinary teams in the Integrated Operations Centre. Based at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Hastings, you will assist with patient care activities, provide comfort, and help maintain equipment and supplies.

You will work under Registered Nurses, contributing to safe, efficient care and a positive patient experience for whānau daily in a dynamic

About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant (HCA) within the Integrated Operations Centre, you will provide clinical, technical, and administrative support to nursing and multidisciplinary teams, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of patient care services. Working under the direction of Registered Nurses, you will assist with patient care activities, support patient comfort and wellbeing, maintain equipment and supplies, and contribute to a safe and efficient healthcare environment.

About you

As a Health Care Assistant, you will bring:

• A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance, be actively working towards this qualification, or be willing to commence study shortly after employment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and follow direction appropriately.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• A caring, respectful, and patient-centred approach with an understanding of cultural diversity and the needs of patients and whānau.
• Knowledge of patient management systems such as ECA.
• An enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
