New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) invites applications for Head of Department – Early Childhood Education. This senior role leads NZTC’s ECE programmes, shaping curriculum, teaching quality and assessment across a culturally responsive education framework. Flexible location, with preferred bases in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.

The role emphasises Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te ao Māori integration, and partnerships with the ECE sector to prepare graduates for diverse communities.

Formación

• Postgraduate qualification in education, ECE or related field (master’s level or above).
• Extensive experience in early childhood education and teacher education.
• Experience leading tertiary academic teams and curriculum development.
• Understanding of Te Whāriki, NZQA requirements and teacher registration pathways.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice.
• Ability to build relationships across diverse ECE sector.
• Collaborative leadership and commitment to continuous learning.
• Experience with culturally responsive teaching.

Responsabilidades

• Provide academic leadership across NZTC's ECE programmes.
• Lead and develop academic teams, strengthen teaching and assessment quality.
• Ensure programmes remain contemporary, inclusive and connected to sector needs.
• Embed bicultural practices and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in teaching and learning.
• Shape future learning reflecting Te Whāriki and professional requirements.
• Build authentic relationships with ECE employers and communities.
• Use learner feedback and sector insights to improve educational quality.
