Job summary

Red Light Ramen Bar in Nelson, BC is seeking a permanent, full-time kitchen leader to supervise a team of 16-20 staff and manage daily kitchen operations. You will oversee cost records, inventory, menu planning and food preparation for diverse dietary needs.

The role requires a Food Safety Certificate and leadership in a fast-paced environment. This on-site position has no remote option; compensation is CAD 24.16–30.00 per hour for 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Leadership required to supervise 16-20 staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Experience in managing costs and inventory.

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
  • Create new recipes
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Supervise activities of sous‑chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks
