Job summary

Generate Zero in Auckland is seeking an enthusiastic Software Developer Intern to join our growing team. Working with the dev squad, you will help design and build new features for the platform.

The 10-week contract is full-time, with the potential to shift to part-time later. You will gain hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript and React, and learn Agile practices while solving real product challenges.

Qualifications

• A can-do attitude, passion for problem-solving, and strong communication skills
• A relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, data, engineering, mathematics or a related field
• Experience developing full-stack software using modern languages and frameworks (Node.js, TypeScript, React preferred)
• An understanding of Agile development practices and workflows

Responsibilities

• Working with the Generate Zero team to understand requirements, contribute to design discussions, and help build features for our platform
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of a clean, reusable, and well-structured codebase
• Tackling technical challenges with support from the team, and learning to debug and problem-solve effectively
• Sharing ideas and thinking creatively about how we can improve the product and user experience
• Staying curious about new technologies and development trends, and learning best practices for writing reliable, maintainable software

About The Role:

We are on the hunt for anIntern to join our growing team at Generate Zero as a Software Developer. Working alongside our dev team, you will bring a blend of creativity and technical ability to help us design and build exciting new features for the platform.

As part of our agile squad, you will contribute directly to the experimental development of new product modules and features aligned with our R&D roadmap. This includes researching and prototyping innovative solutions (such as generative AI tools), and helping us to improve scalability, performance, and user experience across the platform.

This role will initially be a 10-week contract, full time (dates flexible), however there is potential for the intern position to roll onto part-time work after this period.

You will be responsible for:

• Working with the Generate Zero team to understand requirements, contribute to design discussions, and help build features for our platform
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of a clean, reusable, and well-structured codebase
• Tackling technical challenges with support from the team, and learning to debug and problem-solve effectively
