The University of Auckland is seeking a Genomics Technologist to join the Grafton Clinical Genomics team within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. This hands-on role provides day-to-day technical expertise and supports researchers, students and clinical stakeholders.

You will work with MALDI-TOF, NanoString, Illumina and MGI NGS platforms, developing genomics expertise in an expanding team of professionals and students.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics or related field.
• NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician (Molecular Genetics) with practising certificate.
• Experience in ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
• 2–3 years post-graduate experience in molecular genetics/genomics.
• Experience with DNA/RNA workflows and advanced genomics instrumentation.

Aufgaben

• Operate and maintain specialised genomics equipment (MALDI-TOF, NanoString, Illumina, MGI NGS, RT-PCR).
• Process and analyse clinical and research samples according to procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain laboratory documentation to support ISO 15189 accreditation.
• Provide training and support to researchers, students and laboratory users.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration and facility operations.
• Support laboratory compliance, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to development and implementation of new methods and workflows.
