Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand is seeking a Level 4 Water Serviceman to join our civil infrastructure team delivering potable water reticulation projects in Hamilton. Immediate start available and weekly pay.

You will install, repair, and maintain water mains on various projects, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship. Qualified candidates with NZQA Level 4 or equivalent and relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 National Certificate in Water Reticulation or equivalent.
• Water Serviceman qualification or equivalent advantageous.
• Proven experience with potable water reticulation networks.
• Read plans and work independently; strong health and safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water mains and service connections.
• Complete water main renewals and reticulation installations.
• Locate and repair water leaks.
• Install valves, hydrants, meters, and fittings.
• Carry out shutdowns, isolations, and reinstatement of water services.
• Read and interpret plans and utility drawings.
• Operate excavators and other plant as required.
• Complete QA and maintenance documentation.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Communicate with clients, councils, and the public.

Start date: Immediate

Pay rate: $38–$46 per hour + weekly pay

About the Role

As a Level 4 Water Serviceman, you'll play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of potable water reticulation networks. Working alongside a supportive team, you'll deliver high-quality outcomes across a variety of civil infrastructure projects while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water mains and service connections
• Complete water main renewals and new reticulation installations
• Locate and repair water leaks
• Install and replace valves, hydrants, meters, and associated fittings
• Carry out shutdowns, isolations, and reinstatement of water services
• Read and interpret plans and utility service drawings
• Operate excavators and other plant where required
• Complete quality assurance and maintenance documentation
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
• Liaise professionally with clients, councils, and members of the public

What We're Looking For

• NZQA Level 4 National Certificate in Water Reticulation (or equivalent)
• Water ServicemanArticulated qualification
• Proven experience working on potable water reticulation networks
• Competent in water main installations, repairs, and maintenance
• Ability to read plans and work independently
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• Full Class 1 driver's licence
• Class 2 licence, WTR endorsements, and confined space or gas detection tickets are advantageous
