Job summary

Department of Corrections NZ is seeking a registered psychologist to join the Intervention and Support Practice team at Auckland Prison. You will assess, formulate, and intervene with clients presenting complex mental health needs within a multidisciplinary framework and prison setting.

The role balances direct clinical work with consultation, case planning, and supervision. Ongoing professional development and cultural supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered psychologist with eligibility to practise.
• Experience with psychological assessments in complex presentations.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments and develop treatment and support plans.
• Provide individual and group interventions for clients with mental health needs.
• Collaborate with health staff, custodial teams, case managers and external providers.
• Offer psychological advice to support staff in risk management and care decisions.
