Job summary

South Taranaki District Council is seeking an Accountant to join the Finance Team on a full-time basis. The role reports to the Finance Manager and supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting while ensuring regulatory compliance for Water Services.

The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance/Commerce with 2–3 years of experience, strong analytical ability, and advanced spreadsheet skills. NZ residency or valid work visa required.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced spreadsheet capability.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Contribute to long-term financial planning for the Council.
• Lead financial ring-fencing for Water Services IHBU.
• Coordinate Commerce Commission disclosures with robust documentation.
