Job summary

Ventia seeks a Transmission Line Mechanic to join our Lower Central North Island team, delivering essential infrastructure across Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, and Manawatu-Whanganui for New Zealand’s power network.

You will construct, maintain and upgrade transmission lines, climb at heights, string conductors and ensure safe operation while meeting project deadlines. This is a permanent, full-time field role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of relevant Transmission Line Mechanic or line construction/maintenance experience.
• EWRB Line mechanic registration accepted (Trainee).
• Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe work practices.
• Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 or higher advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and repair transmission line structures and hardware.
• Climb structures and work at heights across outdoor environments.
• Support line stringing, conductor installation and maintenance works.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of critical network assets.
• Collaborate with crews to deliver projects safely, on time and to a high standard.
