Apatu Farms Ltd in Hawke’s Bay is seeking a Field Operations 2IC to support the Field Operations Manager across cropping and irrigation activities on the Hastings site. You will lead hands-on teams, coordinate day-to-day operations and contribute to safety and continuous improvement.

This permanent full-time role requires proven machinery operation, leadership, and strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a full NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating agricultural machinery across a range of cropping or farming activities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop people.
• Experience with irrigation operations, planning or management would be an advantage.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.

Responsabilités

• Assisting the Field Operations Manager with day-to-day operational planning, coordination and execution.
• Providing leadership, coaching and support to field operations and irrigation teams.
• Working closely with two Irrigation Supervisors to coordinate irrigation activities and priorities.
• Assisting with irrigation planning, troubleshooting, problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supporting seasonal work programmes and ensuring resources are effectively utilised.
• Operating a modern fleet of machinery including John Deere, Fendt and Case tractors equipped with GPS autosteer technology.
• Undertaking a range of agricultural operations including cultivation, ground preparation, planting, harvesting, grassing down and other crop production activities.
• Building effective and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identifying, managing and mitigating operational and health and safety risks.
• Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and accountability.
