Job summary

Healthcare Academy of New Zealand (HANZ) seeks an experienced Faculty Leader – Social Work to drive the development of a new Social Work programme portfolio. You will provide academic leadership across curriculum design, stakeholder engagement and quality assurance to meet accreditation and industry needs.

The role involves end-to-end programme development, collaboration with faculty and industry partners, and strong emphasis on culturally responsive teaching and workforce outcomes.

Qualifications

• You’re an experienced Social Work academic with strong programme development and leadership experience.
• You must hold a PhD or doctoral qualification in Social Work and be registered with SWRB.
• Extensive tertiary teaching, curriculum design and accreditation knowledge is required.
• Engagement with iwi/Māori and Pasifika communities and professional bodies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead programme and curriculum development across the Social Work portfolio.
• Develop structures, descriptors, learning outcomes and assessment frameworks.
• Create teaching resources aligned with programme documentation and outcomes.
• Lead work-integrated learning, placements and professional practice models.
• Embed Mātauranga Māori and Pasifika perspectives throughout the curriculum.
• Ensure alignment with SWRB standards, NZQA and quality standards.
• Support internal approvals, external accreditation and regulatory processes.
• Plan delivery milestones, resources and timelines.
• Build relationships with practitioners, iwi, Māori and Pasifika stakeholders.
• Lead sector consultation to keep programmes current with practice needs.
